HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5976-06-2024A Resolution NO.597G-pjA-2024 APPOINTING MATTIE PARKER TO THE BOARD OF THE METROPOLITAN AREA EMS AUTHORITY WHEREAS, in 1988, the City of Fort Worth (the "City") and certain other Tarrant County municipalities came together to create a regional ambulance and emergency medical services ("EMS") agency known as the Area Metropolitan Ambulance Authority, d/b/a Medstar, (the "Authority") through the adoption of a uniform EMS ordinance and interlocal cooperative agreement under the provisions of Section 773.051 of the Texas Health and Safety Code and pursuant to Ordinance Number 10094; WHEREAS, now known as the Metropolitan Area EMS Authority and operating under the trade name MedStar Mobile Healthcare, the Authority operates under the Restated and Amended Interlocal Cooperative Agreement executed in 2020 (Fort Worth City Secretary Contract No. 54348; hereinafter, the "Agreement") and an updated uniform EMS ordinance; WHEREAS, the Agreement provides that the Authority is to be governed by a$oard of Directors (the "Board"), with four voting members appointed by the City who serve at the pleasure of the City and may be replaced by the City at any time, with or without cause; WHEREAS, one of the City appointed members on the Board, Susan Alanis, recently resigned from her seat with the Board; WHEREAS, the City desires to fill the vacant position with the City Mayor, Mattie Parker; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City has found and determined that Mayor Mattie Parker is eligible for appointment to the Board under said ordinance and Agreement and is otherwise not disqualified by law from holding such office. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT: 1. Mattie Parker is hereby appointed to membership on the Board in place of Susan Alanis, said appointment to be effective immediately and to serve until September 30, 2027, or the date as of which a replacement is duly appointed.
