With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Parker called the City
Council Work Session of the Fort Worth City Council to order 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday,
August 6, 2024, in the City Council Conference Room 2020 of the Fort Worth City Hall,
200 Texas Street, Fort Worth, Texas.
1. Report of the City Manager - David Cooke, City Manager
a. Upcoming and Recent Events
City Manager Cooke reminded City Council that Kids Who Care will perform a
"Thank You" song at 5:55 p.m. in the Council Chamber.

Mark McDaniel recognized ITS for their response during the global CrowdStrike
issue.
Mark McDaniel introduced Brian Daugherty as new Code Compliance Director.
Jesica McEachern introduced Joel McKnight as new Parks and Recreation Assistant
Director.

Council Member Beck requested staff to reach out to Visit Fort Worth to
ensure all the areas that need to be exempt are listed and to reach out to current
hotel owners and hotel permit holders of the process.

7. City Council Requests for Future Agenda Items and/or Reports
Council Member Beck requested a review of what other cities do when it comes to
variable tax rates for affordability; possibly implementing a sliding scale.

Council Member Flores requested an informal report on using the National Trust and
Historic Preservation to support small historic businesses.
Council Member Flores requested an evaluation of golf cart use in entertainment districts
and college campuses.
Council Member Lauersdorf requested an informal report on how aggressively we are
going after insured motorist when they damage street signs and light poles.
Council Member Nettles requested an informal report on the grease trap ordinance
relating to major kitchen versus smaller kitchens.
Council Member Nettles requested revisiting having metal detectors at the New City Hall
facility.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor Parker adjourned the meeting at 1:36 p.m.
