HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 7390 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 7390 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council July 27, 1989 On Thursday morning, June 8, 1989 Tarrant County Precinct Nuffter 4 personnel notified Street Division's Section II Supervisor that they bad barricaded subject road due to a bridge failure. They had been notified of the problem Wednesday evening, June 7, 1989. At the time of the notification Tarrant County was under the impression that the bridge was within the City of Fbrt Worth. on Thursday afternoon Street Division supervision and management made an on-site inspection of the bridge site. It was determined at that time the bridge was critically damaged and should remain closed until repairs are made. Pictures were taken of the bridge. Transportation/public Works and the City Manager's office was notified of the damage and closure. That same afternoon Real Property Management notified Street Division that the City limit line was located along the center line of Keller Haslet Road. Therefore half the bridge is within the City of Flort Worth and half of the bridge lies within Tarrant County. On Friday morning, June 9, 1989 Street Division forces placed City of Fort Worth barricades on the bridge and further blocked the area with material berms across the roadway. On Monday morning June 12, 1989 Street Division management notified County Public Works officials that the bridge belonged to both entities. The northern half of the bridge is the responsibility of Tarrant County and the southern half of the bridge is the responsibility of the City of if the bridge is replaced preliminary estimates indicate the cost to be $250,000. The current inside width of the bridge is 24 feet; the length on the southside is 45 feet 3 inches whereas the length on the northside is 54 feet. If the bridge is replaced it is believed that the width will have to be increased to meet current stwx1ards.
