To the Mayor and Members of the City Council �l f'�f �rExay' Subject; 1989 CERTIFIED ROLL OF APPRAISED VALUES raT3 The Tarrant Appraisal District Chief Appraiser has submitted the 1989 certified roll of appraised property values. A copy of the roll summary is attached for your information. The Net Taxable Value has decreased $1,000,836,388 or 6.5% from the preliminary roll received in May. Approximately $768,000,000 of this decrease is the result of protests filed with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The value of property being protested is excluded from the roll until the protests have been heard by the ARB. At a minimum the City should gain $557,126,691, ,the minimum (or unprotested value) after the cases have been heard. In most cases the minimum value is the value at which the property was taxed last year. The only potential for not gaining this amount is if the protests successfully argue that property value has deteriorated below last year's value. Historically this has not happened. Assuming the minimum amount will be gained results in a taxable roll of $14,988,549,733 which approximates the number upon which the 1989-90 Proposed Budget has been based.
