HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9587 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 9587 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council August 20, 2013 `�` Page 1 of 1 r SUBJECT: PROPOSED COUNCIL-INITIATED ZONING CHANGES FOR THE rF GREAT COMMISSION BAPTIST CHURCH PROPERTY LOCATED AT 7700 McCART AVENUE The September 10 City Council agenda will contain an M&C to initiate the zoning process for 7700 McCart Avenue in the Far South Sector, west of McCart Avenue and south of Sycamore School Road. The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone a church to zoning classifications that are in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the future land use in the 2013 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning, and the proposed zoning. Council Member Jordan mailed a letter to the affected property owner, the Great Commission Baptist Church on May 20, 2013. While churches are allowed in any zoning classification, the church is agreeable to having the zoning changed. In the unlikely event that the church leaves this site, the existing multifamily and commercial zoning could be utilized to the full uses allowed. Public hearings for the rezoning of this property would be held by the Zoning Commission on October 9, 2013, and by the City Council on November 12, 2013.
