J uxo Subject: CLOSURE OF McCART AVENUE BRIDGE OVER 1-20
The Transportation and Public Works Department staff has been advised by
the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation that the
McCart Avenue bridge over 1-20 will be closed to traffic on September 9,
1989. The bridge will be demolished and replaced with a new, longer
bridge in conjunction with the 1-20 reconstruction project. It is
anticipated that the bridge will be closed for approximately five
months.
Closure of this bridge facility will cause considerable inconvenience
and some confusion for Fort Worth motorists, especially immediately
after the closure. Several other streets should be available which can
serve as suitable alternate routes such as Altamesa Boulevard from
McCart Avenue to I-35W (South Freeway) and Westcreek Drive.
As construction on the new bridge progresses, information concerning the
status of the project may be obtained by calling Mr. Bill Page,
Construction Coordinator, State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation, at 292-6510, Ext. 330.
Additional information will be provided upon request.
