CALL TO ORDER
With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Parker called the City
Council Public Comment Meeting of the Fort Worth City Council to order at 6:04 p.m.
on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in the City Council Chamber of the Fort Worth City Hall,
200 Texas Street, Fort Worth, Texas.

The Pledges of Allegiances to the United States of America and the State of Texas were
recited.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Motion: Council Member Crain made a motion, seconded by Council Member Nettles that
the Work Session and Public Comment meetings of August 6, 2024, be approved.
Motion passed 9-0, Council Members Lauersdorf and Williams absent.

Pete Geren appeared before Council relative to the literacy crisis in Fort Worth.

was recognized by Mayor Parker but was not present in the Council Chamber.
Betty Ligon appeared before Council relative to protected bike corners - E 4th/1 st
bike lane (CPN 102601) phase two.
Alex Jimenez appeared before Council relative to reading literacy.
Gerald Banks Sr., representing Equal Justice Now, appeared before Council
relative to profiling, police brutality, wrongful arrest/killings, wrongful prosecution,
ending qualified immunity, etc.
Naomi Dillard, representing Carter Riverside Neighborhood Association, appeared
before Council relative to Riverside Recreation Center at Sylvania Park.
Wesley Kirk, representing Support Fort Worth Art, appeared before Council
relative to investing in the future of the arts in Fort Worth.

David Martinez appeared before Council Via conference call relative to Fort
Worth TV and a solution to the drunk driving having check points.
Liz Badgley appeared before Council relative to gun violence.
Teena James appeared before Council relative to gun violence.
Mar'Tayshia James appeared before Council via conference call relative to youth.
Pastor Kyev Tatum, representing New Mount Rose Baptist Church, appeared
before Council relative to the state of Black Fort Worth.
Jack Bowen appeared before Council relative to injured MPO.
Carolyn M. Rodriguez appeared before Council relative to tba.
Bill Burgan completed a speaker card relative to the library, parks, and Vets day
and was recognized by Mayor Parker but was could not be reached.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor Parker adjourned the meeting at 8:19 p.m.
