DISCUSSION: The Institute of Museum and Library Services offers a Conservation Project Support Grant for museums. The Log Cabin Village is applying for $6,390 in conservation funding. The matching funds required for the grant will be provided through in-kind labor by staff and volunteers in the amount of $3,821, and a monetary contribution of $2,700 from the Log Cabin Heritage Foundation, paid directly to the conservator, bringing the total cost of the project to $12,911. If awarded, the grant funds will be used for the professional conservation treatment of the eighteenth and nineteenth century furniture at the Log Cabin Village. Funds are also included for the production of a brochure that educates the museum's public about this conservation project. The grant period lasts for two years, beginning on May 1, 2003.
