Authorize the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a grant in the amount of $2,970 from the American Association of Museums for the Log Cabin Village; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing the estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by $2,970, upon receipt of the grant; and 3. Authorize the use of $780 for registration fees, contingent upon award of the grant. DISCUSSION: The American Association of Museums, through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, offers a Museum Assessment Program (MAP). The MAP 111 offers museums and libraries the chance to undergo a Public Dimension Assessment. The assessment supports an evaluation of the way in which the museum serves its community and audiences through exhibits, programs, and other services, and how it communicates with its audience through public relations, planning and evaluation. If the Log Cabin Village receives a MAP III grant, $2,970 would be provided to underwrite the costs of consultant fees for the assessment. The registration fee cost share for museums is $780, which the Log Cabin Village would pay for out of its General Fund budget, if the grant were awarded. Museums will be notified of grant awards in April 2003. The Parks and Community Services Advisory Board endorsed this application on December 17, 2002. The facility is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9.
