Affirmative Action The automated Affirmative Action Planning System is now fully operational and departmental placement goals for 1990 will be established in January/February 1990. 11. EEO/AA Training In the fourth quarter of FY 88-89, 27 participants completed the City's EEO/AA Workshop training. This represents 324 hours of classroom training. A total of 573 employees completed this training during FY 88-89. This represents 6,876 hours of classroom training. Ill. Promotions/Reclassifications There were 115 promotions and reclassifications in the fourth quarter: 29% went to Women and 42% went to Minorities. This involved 33 Women, 34 Blacks and 14 Hispanics. The Police Department accounted for 40% of these actions (46 promotions/reclassifications), 33% of which involved Women, 30% of which involved Blacks and 13% of which involved Hispanics. The Water Department accounted for 14% of these actions (16 promotions/reclassifications): 25% Women; 44% Blacks; and, 13% Hispanics. The total number of promotions and reclassifications during FY 88-89 is 517. These actions involved 152 Women (29.4%), 133 Blacks (25.7%) and 66 Hispanics (12.8%). IV. Attachment No. 2 - Work Force Racial, Ethnic, and Gender Representation Excluding Civil Service Personnel in EEO Categories 1, 2 and 3. Due to the especially large proportion of Civil Service Personnel in the City's work force (approximately 30%) and the uniquely restrictive employment criteria that these positions are under, this attachment is provided to present a more accurate picture of the results of the City's affirmative action/equal employment efforts. Attachment No. 3 Work Force Incumbencv v. Availability Percentages by EEO Category. This table provides a quick overview of the City's entire work force and identifies areas in the work force where concerted affirmative action efforts need to be made. Attachment No. 4 - Departmental Racial, Ethnic, and Gender Composition by EEO Category. Actual incumbency for each department by EEO Category is provided in this attachment.
