City Workforce Composition January 1985 Black 21.8 Hispanic 8.8 Women 23.0 January 1990 Black 23.2 Hispanic 11.5 Women 26.2 Net Change Black +1.4 From January 1985 Hispanic +2.7 Women +3.2 11. Pro motions/Reclassificiations There were 112 promotions and reclassifications in the first quarter of Fiscal Year 1989-1990: 32% Women, 25% Black and 17% Hispanic. This involved 36 Women, OPIL 28 Blacks and 19 Hispanics. Notable actions included the promotion/reclassification of the following: William Johnson (BM) to Internal Auditor II and Laura Weedon-Smeby (CF) to Internal Auditor 111; Vera Jones (BF) to Secretary to City Secretary; Annjenet Chennault (BF) to Attorney II; Leticia Marsh (CF) to Warehouse Supervisor; Larry Curtis (BM) to Police Sergeant; and Santa Cruz Alexander (HM) to Fire Engineer. III. Affirmative Action A meeting with the Affirmative Action Task Force was held to review availability factors and weighting formulas in the automated Affirmative Action Planning system. A follow-up meeting will be planned prior to beginning individual goal setting meetings with each department. IV. Statistical profile of the City's Work Force The following attachments have been prepared and are updated quarterly. Attachment No. I - Work Force Racial, Ethnic, and Gender Representation. The figures in this attachment include General Fund, Grant Funded, and JTPA funded positions. Due to the especially large proportion of Civil Service Personnel in the City's work force (approximately 30%) and the uniquely restrictive employment criteria that these positions are under, this attachment is provided to present a more accurate picture of the results of the City's affirmative action/equal employment efforts. Attachment No. 3 - Work Force Incumbency v. Availability Percentages by EEO Category. This table provides a quick overview of the City's entire work force and identifies areas in the work force where concerted affirmative action efforts need to be made. Attachment No. 4 - Departmental Racial, Ethnic, and Gender Composition by EEO Category Actual incumbency for each department by EEO Category is provided in this attachment. General Fund, Grant Funded, and JTPA funded positions are included in these figures.
