Subject: Cooperative Arrangement Between the City of Fort Worth
'
Park and Recreation Department and the Tarrant County
Water Control and Improvement District Number One
The City of Fort Worth Park and Recreation Department and the
Tarrant County Water Control and Improvement District Number One
have been working closely together over the last several months to
address a number of maintenance related issues . Of particular
concern is the way citizen complaints are being handled ( "it's not
our property, it's theirs" ) , and the lack of coordination of
maintenance schedules which resulted in a poor appearance even if
one or the other had just mowed.
The attached "Memorandum of Understanding" (M.O.U. ) documents each
organization's commitment to the agreed to solutions . Citizen
complaints will be taken by whomever receives the call and
forwarded if necessary for action. Areas of responsibility have
been clearly defined and delineated on maps in each organization's
possession. Some maintenance duties have been assumed by each
agency for property belonging to the other where it makes practical
sense to do so.
Another result of this effort which is not included in the M.O.U.
but which should have a positive impact on areas along the river is
the coordinated expansion of native trees, grasses and wild flower
planting. Not only will these natural areas be much more
attrac 've, maintenance costs are expected to be lower.
