,.• Enviro Committee
On March 10, 1992, a proposal to establish an Environmental Advisory
Committee was referred to the City Council Committee on Advisory Boards and
Commissions. After careful consideration, on March 24, 1992 the Council
Committee decided to recommend the City Council formally reject establishing
and Environmental Advisory Committee at this time. The Council Committee
believed the creation of a formal structured advisory committee was not in the
best interests of the community in solving the issues which will necessitate
flexible input from multidisciplinary factions.
The consensus of the Council Committee was that the Director of the
Environmental Department could facilitate the involvement of an informal
advisory group from established environmental organizations, industry and other
Interested associations. This informal network would assist the Department on
an as needed basis in addressing environmentally sensitive issues evaluating
program changes and reviewing environmental issues affecting the community.
Should this approach be ineffective, the Council Committee's recommendation
can be reevaluated.
