HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 6047-01-2025RESOLUTION NO. 6047-01-2025 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR AND ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT, IF AWARDED, IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000,000.00 FOR THE REBUILDING AMERICAN INFRASTRUCTURE WITH SUSTATINABILITY AND EQUITY (RAISE) GRANT PROGRAM FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A GRADE - SEPARATED CROSSING OF HERITAGE TRACE PARKWAY OVER THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN AND SANTA FE RAILROAD. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Transportation considers funding requests under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with SustainabiIity and Equity (RAISE) program which provides grants for surface transportation infrastructure projects with significant local or regional impact; and WHEREAS, City staff identified a need for federal funding assistance to construct a grade - separated crossing of Heritage Trace Parkway over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) tracks, thus making an important east -west connection for tlhe citizens of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, an application for RAISE Grant funds in the amount of $25,000,000.00 will be submitted by the City of Fort Worth on or before the deadline of January 30, 2025; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Fort Worth to utilize grant funds from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to mitigate the costs of designing and constructing infrastructure gaps. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT: 1. The City Council authorizes the application for and acceptance of, if awarded, a Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant in the amount of $25,000,000.00 for the Heritage Trace Parkway grade -separated railroad crossing project; and 2. The City Council designates the City Manager, through his designated representative, to apply f01; shepherd, monitor, accept, reject, alter, or terminate this grant on behalf of the city.
