The studies also identified alternatives to reduce the existing non-compatible land uses around the airports and to prevent additional non-compatible land uses from occurring in the future. The studies are financed with a 90%/10% local match grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Meacham Airport noise study revealed noise impacted properties in the immediate vicinity south of the airport. Alternatives identified to address the impacted properties include land acquisition, easement acquisition,and/or sound proofing. To prevent future non-compatible land uses, land use planning is identified as an alternative in the study. tither operational noise abatement alternatives are identified in both the Meacham and Spinks studies. A complete list of these alternatives are listed in the Summary of Cumulative Noise Abatement Alternatives which is attached. The adoption of the studies by the City Council and the approval by the FAA does not commit the City to implement any of the identified alternatives. The adoption and approval of the studies by the City Council and the FAA will allow the City to apply to the FAA for a 90%/10% local match grant to fund the implementation of the noise abatement alternatives selected by the City Council. Approval by the FAA would take approximately 10-12 months from the time the study is submitted. It is anticipated that the earliest date that funds may be available from the FAA would be June 1994. At that time the City would have to provide the 10% local match. Unless otherwise directed, an M&C to adopt the Meacham and Spinks noise studies will be forwarded for the City Council's consideration.
