Home My WebLink AboutIR 7807 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 78Q7 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council March 22, 1994 Subject: SECOND UPDATE ON THE ACTION PLAN TO I ADDRESS CHRONIC SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW AREAS (E.P.A. MANDATES) On March 23, 1993 (M&C G-10099) , the City Council approved the supplemental appropriation of $10,000,000.00 from the Water & Sewer Fund reserve into a Sewer Capital Projects Fund, in order to address remediate action required by the Environmental Protection Agency administrative orders. Specifically, the remediate action is focused on recurring overflows and backups from "fully depreciated" facilities. A preliminary list (by Council District) was presented to the City Council on March 8, 1993, in conjunction with Informal Report No. 7698. Informal Report No. 7758 on September 14, 1993, provided an update on the status of this action plan. The project list continues to, be modified following more detailed evaluations of each site and as other priorities are identified. Out of a total of 123 projects, 107 have been acted upon: 20 - Completed 3 - Under construction I - Authorized for trenchless construction, but not completed 5 - Design completed for construction by City forces 51 - Awarded to engineering consultants 4 - Under design by City forces 13 - Deleted following detailed evaluation and maintenance 10 - Deleted following inclusion in SSES/Contract work funded by other sources Of the sixteen (16) projects with no action taken to date, all are lower priority projects. Staff will begin evaluation of them in the next few months.
