HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 25-0055INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 25-0055 epar� Ca J" VA 1673 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council April 15, 2025 Page 1 of 3 SUBJECT: PARK & RECREATION DEPARTMENT FACILITIES ADMISSION AND MEMBERSHIP FEES This report provides a summary of the Park & Recreation Department (PARD) facilities admission fees for City operated and contracted facilities fees, including military discounts and non-resident fees. PARD operates community centers, athletic complexes, golf courses and two specialty facilities, Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge (FWNCR) and Log Cabin Village. In addition to these facilities, the City contracts with Fort Worth Zoological Society and Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) providing an annual subsidy to operate the Fort Worth Zoo and Botanic Garden. Annually, PARD reviews established fees to determine the need to make market adjustments, including incorporating discounts and/or rates to accommodate groups such as military, students, older adults, etc. Any changes to fees are made during the budget process and must be approved and adopted by City Council. Below is a list of current fees for facilities operated or subsidized by PARD. Community Center fitness center membership fees are divided into three tiers: Bronze, Silver and Gold. The fee structure for fitness centers is based on the size of the center and operating hours. In addition, the type of fitness membership provides access to either one or all community centers. Fitness membership fees are listed in the table below and include the range from bronze to gold. Additional Discounts The aforementioned rates are basic membership and admission fees. Facilities frequently offer additional discounts and host special events that grant access at little or no cost. Below are examples of discounts, special promotions or accommodation provided to encourage visitation and facility usage. • Botanic Garden ensures individuals and families at all income levels can visit. Individuals with SNAP/WIC receive discounted family membership ($30) and, through the Museums4All program, complimentary admission (adults and children under 15 free, same household, general admission only. Not applicable for special events). • Log Cabin Village and Botanic Garden partner with Fort Worth Library to offer MusePass: Free family passes are available to check out in all City of Fort Worth public libraries with your valid Fort Worth Library card. • Blue Star Program: Free admission between Armed Forces Day and Labor Day for active military personnel (with military ID) plus up to five family members. • Community Centers offer complimentary membership cards for students with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities that participate in FWISD special education training program.
