Their designation as fully participating Model Blocks and each receiving their $1.2 million, was subject to completing training in neighborhood organizing, organizational development and various program regulations. Additionally, each neighborhood was required to develop a neighborhood revitalization strategy. A boundary map for each Model Block area is attached. Over the ensuing eight months, Housing Department and Planning Department staff worked closely with both neighborhoods to complete these requirements. Training was conducted on the Model Blocks Program, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME regulations, the planning process, Parks and Community Center Development, how to conduct meetings and how to organize a neighborhood. The staff worked with both neighborhoods to develop and enhance their respective association's organizational structure. Each group now has an executive committee of at least ten members including representatives from each of the blocks within the designated boundaries. Both groups have held regular monthly meetings as well as regular subcommittee meetings. Also, each neighborhood has developed their respective Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy. The proposed activities along with very preliminary budget estimates are shown in the table on page three. Not only have both groups completed the prescribed criteria, but each has also achieved above and beyond the Provisional Model Blocks Requirements. The following are some of the highlights: OFFICIAL IRECORD C 'y 1ECRF[ARY FIT ISSUED BY THE CITY MANAGER FORT WORTH,TEXAS INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 8o76 *FOR To the Mayor and Members of the City Council June 17, 1997 !TNI Page 2 of 2 X Subject: 01Qx- UPDATE ON PROVISIONAL MODEL BLOCKS Mitchell Blvd. Polytechnic Received Letter of Incorporation from the Painted 3 houses State of Texas Attended C.O.P.S.
