HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 25-0060INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 25-0060 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council May 6, 2025 Page 1 of 1 i SUBJECT: POLICE CHIEF RECRUITMENT PROCESS 1875 The purpose of this Informal Report is to provide an update on the City's nationwide search to recruit the next Police Chief for the City of Fort Worth. The City's goal is to conduct a comprehensive, nationwide search to find a forward -thinking leader to serve as the Police Chief. The Human Resources Department invited proposals from twenty-five (25) executive recruitment firms and received nine (9) responses. After careful review, and in collaboration with City leadership, Mosaic Public Partners (Mosaic) was selected to lead the recruitment process. On -going through September 2025, the City and Mosaic will work together to shape the recruitment strategy, define the qualities of an ideal candidate, and identify key departmental priorities. A major focus will be placed on outreach efforts that attract a diverse and highly qualified applicant pool. The City and Mosaic have begun initial activities to gather input from key stakeholders and the public through surveys that will remain open through May 16, 2025. A survey will also be distributed to local chambers of commerce, neighborhood associations, homeowner groups, and other community organizations to ensure broad and representative input on the candidate profile. The City will provide updates, as they become available, and the community will be invited to meet and engage with the final candidates in a public forum to be announced at a later date. The agreed upon timeline for the recruitment process, as noted below. Timeline • April 2025 — Stakeholder engagement activities; candidate profile development • May 2025 — Job Posting Opens • June 2025 — Job Posting Closes; Mosaic Public Partners meets with CoFW Team to review the applicant pool and select semifinalists • July 2025 — Semifinalists interviews • July 2025 — Final interviews and Community Engagement/Public Forums • August 2025 — Develop onboarding plan for the selected candidate • September 2025 — Candidate appointment The Mosaic screening process includes a thorough review of the candidate's demonstrated work experience, including questionnaires, social media review and a background check for the top candidate(s).
