These requests were submitted to the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District on February 18, 1998. Their public hearing was held on March 4, 1998 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, at which time detailed proposed eligibility criteria for utilizing District funds to remove substandard structures were presented. Three citizens spoke at the hearing, one for an overall reduction of the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District sales tax, and the other two in opposition of the use of District funds to remove substandard structures. The Board allowed additional time for input regarding the eligibility criteria, both from Board members and from interested citizens. The department received written input from Mr. Albert Stowell, a developer and Mr. Jim Schell, his attorney. Their input, and comments from Board members at the meetings, were considered by the police department staff and as a result changes were made to the criteria. The major change made was eliminating consideration of crime statistics at the site during the last time period when the structure was occupied, which in some cases could be more than 10 years ago. On March 25, 1998, at 6:00 PM, the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors met and approved both requests for mid-year funding as well as the eligibility criteria. The required public hearing before the city council is scheduled for the council meeting of April 7, 1998, at 7:00 PM. This hearing was advertised in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Saturday, March 28, 1998. Action on these requests is scheduled for the council meeting of April 21, 1998. The eligibility criteria approved by the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors are attached. Bob Te I City M M ger ISSUED BY THE CITY MANAGER FORT WORTH,TEXAS
