HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 6104-06-2025A Resolution NO. 61.04-05=2025 CONFIRMING ,ruE SERVICE OF AND APPOINTING VARIOUS CITY PERSONNEL AS REPRESENTATIVES ON THE FORT WORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT'S AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATING .BOARD WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Independent School District ("FWISD") is a political subdivision of the State of Texas and a legally constituted independent school district; WHEREAS, since 1999, the City of Fort Worth ("City") and FWISD have worked together on the Fort Worth After School Coordinating Board ("the Board") to direct after school programs that support "the security and well-being of students at middle and elementary schools during after - school hours of 3:OOPM to 6:OOPM"; WHEREAS, the City and FWISD most recently agreed to work together on the Board under City Secretary Contract No. 61-209 ("Agreement"); WHEREAS, the Agreement provides four positions on the Board for City personnel, including a representative of the City Manager's Office, the Chief of Police or designated representative, the Director of Parks and. Recreation, and a representative of the Library Department; WfIER.) AS, the City of Fort Worth Code of Ethics permits the City Council to designate employees to serve on the governing board of a business entity without acquiring a substantial interest in the entity so long as (i) the person receives no direct or indirect remuneration for his or her service, (ii) the primary nature of the business is either charitable, nonprofit or governmental, and (iii) the person is appointed by City Council to represent the City; WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to appoint directors of the Library Department and Park and Recreation Department as well as the Chief of Police and City Manager, and each individual's duly selected designee, to represent the City on the Board; and WHEREAS, the employees of the City appointed to the Hoard will not receive remuneration for their service on the Board. NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITYCOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT: I. City Council hereby appoints the following individuals as members of the. Fort Worth. After School Coordinating Board, to continue to serve as such until they are replaced in their respective roles: the City Manager, Chief of Police, Library Director, and Parks and Recreation Director, and further appoints those individuals' authorised designees to sere in the named person's place or absence. I Any authorized designee so appointed and acting on behalf of a named individual must be From the same department as the named individual, be designated in writing by the named individual, and comply with all requirements of an advisory board member under the City of Fort Worth Code of Ethics and the Texas Open Meetings Act, including the completion of any required training. 3.
