Subject: BRIDGE PAINTING
The Contract Major Maintenance Program includes funding for improvements to various types
of facilities including streets and bridges. Staff has programmed four bridges within the City for
minor repair and painting of the bridge railing and street light standards this year.
Park Hill at the Fort Worth Zoo
North Main over the West Fork of the Trinity River
East 4`h Street over the West Fork of the Trinity River
Riverside Drive northbound over the West Fork of the Trinity River
The Linkages plan adopted recently by the City Council reserved three paint colors for three
designated areas of the City: dark green for the Cultural District, brick red for the Stock-yards
area, and brown for the Cl3D. Other areas are traditionally painted an aluminum color, although
dark brown has been extensively used in the Park Glen and Alliance areas.
In accordance with the Linkages plan, the North Main Street bridge will be painted brick red to
1.
match the approved Stockyards color scheme. The Park Hill bridge, however, is planned to be
repainted light gay to match the existing, paint of this historically important structure.
The East Fourth Street and Riverside bridges, which are outside the linkage areas established by
the Council, would normally be painted aluminum. The Riverside Alliance Neighborhood
Association members, however, have requested that these bridges be painted dark green, the
color designated for the Cultural District.
Staff has no objection to expanding the use of the dark green color to include these bridges.
