October 1" is still the anticipated completion date at the originally approved cost of $64,000. The effort will include a number of additional data conversion efforts that will result in the elimination of the IBM D132 environment, the database management product on the mainframe, resulting in annual savings to the City of some $150,000. Year-end processing and the change to the new financial reporting requirements occur during October. In discussions about these issues the Finance Department, IT Solutions and the CMO have collectively agreed that the prudent course of action is to delay conversion to the new environment until mid- November. The window to complete conversion to the new environment is open until the end of December before support expires for the first of the major products in the old mainframe configuration. Efforts on determining the outsourcing disposition of this environment is moving slower that was anticipated some months ago. To ensure that suppo rt will be available during the period until an outsourcing determination is made, IT Solutions is soliciting quotes from seven QISV vendors to provide mainframe support services during this period. Council can anticipate seeing an M & C to approve this support around the end of September. Should you have any further questions, please contact Dave Miller at 8781 or me. Gary W.
