Attached are photo samples of the new and improved attire. The department is dropping the "blue" shirt traditional look and adopting the use of business casual shirts (of multiple color selection) with an embroidered logo. Additionally, the department will provide officers with the alternative to use a white formal shirt that will include department patches and a badge. All Officers will be required to wear or carry their official badge and City identification. FY 02-03 will be a transitional year where both uniforms will be used, as Code Officers purchase new uniforms with the October and April uniform allotments. The uniform changes are the result of a recommendation from a departmental task force comprised of representatives of each Code Sector. The changes have been reviewed and approved by the department's management staff. The new uniforms will provide more flexibility to the Code Officers, allowing them to select type and color of preferred shirts, while maintaining a standard of professional and official attire. Uniforms are important in the enforcement of codes for several reasons, including safety of the officers, security of the citizens and the appropriate display of authority. The new uniforms were tested by a number of our Officers, and a random survey showed a positive response from our constituents. The uniforms provided clear identification for the Officers in a non-intimidating manner. Attached please find photographic examples that outline these proposed changes. The Code Compliance Department plans to start implementation of the new uniforms effective immediately. If further information is needed, please let us know. .4 7Gaa Jac on City Manager ISSUED BY THE CITY MANAGER FORT WORTH, TEXAS ID/11V + 1 i y • /f;r//r1 // 1 jai r r ` /[ J i rri r r "'IU "M' +r rir rf % r % %;; r' /f /11f i r y ,✓ ' r,, ' rf y'O/ M9 r uP'""w." 1f' H f will "' r e/r v, , a i, / 'r► y i` d iii • r 4 /f,,, ,,,: rr rr iii r i J rO/// t PJ. / r /l% f ,,,,,, r,/,1 i v Sr lr Iwy „-, ✓ ,,, ,r,,,,r xu , ` r r' ;v III ° ' a - ,,, ,,. - i yrl/ irr ii rr ► !YI ley 1 rrirrr flU r l r' r %f//r rqt r/x„ r. r6; J . j^ki r r r rr %/ f il r f R°'' t rff%i° fU %' u /Olt /i % t' 1n r //, %",r f rr \ 9 r/%% r
