SUBJECT: 2005 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE PROCESS
On February 24, 2004, the City Council adopted the 2004 Comprehensive Plan. The Planning
Department has now started the annual update process for the 2005 Comprehensive Plan. The
Comprehensive Plan is updated annually to provide reliable information about the City's growth
and development, to review the status of the City's programs and projects, and to identify
programs and projects that should be considered for funding in the City's budget.
On May 26, the Planning Department will brief the City Plan Commission on the update process,
Exhibit A outlines the proposed schedule to produce the 2005 Comprehensive Plan.
The Planning Department proposes to conduct district-specific work sessions with the City
Council, City Plan Commission and Zoning Commission members in June and July. Planning
staff will contact each Council member to schedule these work sessions.
f.. We propose to hold a Citywide Forum on the Comprehensive Plan at the Will Rogers Memorial
Fit, Center on Monday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m. City departments and cooperating agencies will
have informational booths to receive public comments on major planning efforts, programs and
projects.
The Planning Department will encourage public participation in this forum by distributing
newsletter articles, summary brochures and sector fact sheets to community organizations, and
by issuing a press release to the local media. Staff will also meet individually with various
community groups, such as the Fort Worth League of Neighborhood Associations and
neighborhood alliances, the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors, the Fort Worth
Chamber of Commerce and other chambers, and the Central City Redevelopment Committee.
Should you have any questions regarding the planning process, please contact Fernando
Costa, Planning Director, at 817-392-8042.
