Our last update to the Council was August 12, 2003 via an Informal Report. With funding from The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation, a technology consultant was selected. The consultant will be assisting the Library with selection and implementation of the ILS as well as with other related technologies and concerns. The consultant began work on April 2, 2004 and has visited and assessed library facilities and met with appropriate city departmental staff, library stakeholders, and library staff. Using information from these meetings and visits, the consultant and the ILS Steering Committee developed the Request for Proposal, which was advertised on June 14, 2004. Responses are due back by July 29, 2004. The Steering Committee is made up of selected library staff, appropriate city department staff, and a representative from The Foundation and Library Advisory Board. The network upgrade that is necessary to support the ILS is underway. New computers for staff and the 'lop" public are being considered for funding in the FY 2004/2005 budget request.
