The City and the YMCA share a longstanding history of collaboration focused on expanding community access to recreation and enrichment opportunities. These partnerships support the joint development and management of facilities, including the YMCA Sports Complex, NorthPark YMCA, William M. McDonald YMCA, and Eastside YMCA. Strong community aquatics programs often involve collaboration among multiple agencies to ensure public access to pools. In Fort Worth, the City's partnership with the YMCA has played a significant role in expanding access and remains a priority for future development. Currently, two YMCA pools are open to the public, with a third facility in the planning stage. These pools are available to residents as a result of City financial contributions toward their construction and operation. • The City contributed $2.3 million toward the construction of the pool at the William M. McDonald YMCA and provides an annual operating subsidy of $78,444 ($66,444 in operating and $12,000 for maintenance). Through the use of Community Partnership Funds, the City contributed $250,000 toward renovations at the Eastside YMCA pool. These investments enable residents to access YMCA pools without a membership and at the same or lower daily admission rate as City -owned pools. Looking ahead, the Park & Recreation Department (PARD) has proposed $5 million in the 2026 Bond Program for facility upgrades at the NorthPark YMCA. If approved by voters, the YMCA would match the contribution with an additional $5 million. As part of the agreement, residents would be able to access the upgraded NorthPark YMCA pool without a membership, and at a daily rate equal to or less than that of City -owned pools. PARD and the YMCA are also collaborating on the development of joint recreation programs focused on therapeutic recreation, youth development, youth sports, and services for older adults.
