AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND EXTINGUISHING THREE PORTIONS OF
COMMERCE STREET, A VARIABLE WIDTH PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY
BETWEEN E. 9TH STREET AND E. 14TH STREET, SITUATED IN TARRANT
COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER, AN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS, ACCORDING TO THE PLAT
RECORDED IN VOLUME 388-155, PAGE 47 OF THE PLAT RECORDS OF
TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS, CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY 5,358
SQUARE FEET OR 0.123 ACRES OF LAND, 53,820 SQUARE FEET OR 1.235
ACRES OF LAND, AND 3,136 SQUARE FEET OR 0.071 ACRES OF LAND
RESPECTIVELY, MORE OR LESS; PROVIDING FOR VACATION OF THE
EASEMENTS IN THE LAND AND REVERSION TO THE ADJACENT
PROPERTY OWNER; PROVIDING THAT THE CITY SHALL RETAIN ALL
EXISTING UTILITIES EASEMENTS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
1. That a portion of Commerce Street, a variable width public right-of-way between E. 9th Street
and E. 14th Street, situated in Tarrant County Convention Center, an addition to the City of Fort
Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, according to the plat recorded in Volume 388-166, Page 47 of the
Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas, and containing approximately 5,358 square feet or 0.123
acres of land more or less, as more specifically described as Parcel 1 in Exhibit "A" and attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference, be and the same is vacated and extinguished.
2. That a portion of Commerce Street, a variable width public right-of-way between E. 9th Street
and E. 14th Street, situated in Tarrant County Convention Center, an addition to the City of Fort
Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, according to the plat recorded in Volume 388-166, Page 47 of the
Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas, and containing approximately 53,820 square feet or 1.235
acres of land more or less, as more specifically described as Parcel 2, as more specifically
described in Exhibit "A" and attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, be and the
same is vacated and extinguished.

3. That a portion of Commerce Street, a variable width public right-of-way between E. 9th Street
and E. 14th Street, situated in Tarrant County Convention Center, an addition to the City of Fort
Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, according to the plat recorded in Volume 388-166, Page 47 of the
Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas, and containing approximately 3,136 square feet or 0.071
acres of land more or less, as more specifically described as Parcel 3, as more specifically
described in Exhibit "A" and attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, be and the
same is vacated and extinguished.
SECTION 2.
That easements to the land in the above -described vacated portions of street right-of-way are
hereby released and shall revert to the adjacent owner as provided by law.
SECTION 3.
All existing utility easements shall be retained by the City until such time all utilities located in
the easements are relocated at the owner's expense.
SECTION 4.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5.
That this ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.

COMMENCING at a point in the west right—of—way line of said Commerce Street for the southeast corner of Lot

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Adopt the attached ordinance vacating portions of Commerce Street, between E. 9th Street and E. 14th Street, to be replatted with the
adjoining property for a redevelopment of the Fort Worth Convention Center; and
2. Waive any and all purchase fee value of the vacated land in accordance with City policy.
DISCUSSION:
Dunaway Associates, on behalf of the City of Fort Worth, has requested vacation of portions of Commerce Street to be replatted with the
adjacent property for a redevelopment of the Fort Worth Convention Center. The portions of Commerce Street that are being vacated form the
curvilinear portion of the right-of-way. Right-of-way is being dedicated in order to linearly realign Commerce Street between E. 9th Street and E.
14th Street. The City Plan Commission recommended approval of this request at its meeting on February 19, 2025. An acceptable final plat (FP-
25-004) has been received in accordance with the Subdivision Ordinance.
The City of Fort Worth (City) originally obtained the above mentioned right-of-way through plat dedication. The City does not own any fee interest in
the right-of-way or own any property adjacent to the right-of-way and did not expend any City funds to obtain the right-of-way. In accordance with the
City's policy regarding street and alley vacation transactions approved by the City Council, Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) G-15624,
staff recommends waiving the purchase price of this right-of-way.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9.
A Form 1295 is not required because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that approval of these recommendations will have no material effect on City funds.
