Ordinance No. ' : - ;~ i- AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT AND TREE PLANTING AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF X11,000.00, FROM DONATIONS FROM THE TARRANT COUNTY REGIONAL WATER DISTRICT AND THE AMOK CARTER FOUNDATION, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING PARKS ANC} COMMUNITY SERVICES NATIVE AND ADAPTED TREE PLANTING AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fscal Year 2003-2004 and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Urban and Community Forestry Grant and Tree Planting and Maintenance Guide Fund in the amount of $11,000.00, from donations from the Tarrant County Regional Water District and the Amon Carter Foundation, for the purpose of funding the Parks and Community Services Native and Adapted Tree Planting and maintenance Guide. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void far any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaiMng portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of ©rdinance No. 15636 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Carter Foundation and the Tarrant Regional Water District for the Tree Planting and Maintenance Guide and Adoption of Appropriation Ordinance RECOMMENDATIt3N: It is recommended that the Gity Council: Authorize the City Manager to accept donations in the amount of $5,000 from the Tarrant Regional Water District and $6,000 from The Amon G. Garter Foundation for the Parks and Community Services Native and Adapted Tree Planting and Maintenance Guide. 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Urban and Community Forestry Grant and Tree Planting and Maintenance Guide Fund by $11,000. DISCUSSIC}Pl: The Amon G. Garter Foundation and the Tarrant Regional Water Dis#rict have made donations to the Parks and Gommunity Services Department for the development and printing of Native and Adapted Tree Planting Guides and Posters. The department received an Urban and Gommunity Forestry Grant for Public Outreach in Oc#ober 2002 in the amount of $10,000, for the purpose of developing and publishing a tree planting and maintenance guide. The funds from the Amon G. Garter Foundation and the Tarrant County Regional Water District will help pay grin#ing costs. The guide will promote species diversity and increase the overall health of Fort Worth's urban forest by educating the public on the appropriate selection and maintenance of trees. A full size poster, suitable for framing, will depict suggested native and adapted trees for Fort Worth, in English and Spanish. The accompanying bilingual 28 page flip booklet will contain a guide for tree planting, establishment, maintenance, and include information on the benefits of trees. A total of 10,000 guides will be printed and distributed. The guide and poster will be offered to citizens of Fort Worth free of charge and will be distributed at city functions, schools, community centers and libraries. A percentage of the guides will be distributed to the Tarrant Regional Water District to use at their functions. FISCAL INFORMATIONiCERTIFICATION.
