10.3 Basis of Des,ign Study
The Basis of Design Study is an initial look at the scope of the wastewater interceptor 30
Percent design. The study will investigate the following long term solutions for the Sycamore
Creek Interceptors and recommended alternatiives:
Option 1., Replace z:),yicamore Creek Interceptor for Full Build-Out Capacity once it
reaches the end of the design life.
• Option, 2: Rehabilitate existing interceptor to increase design life while l providing
additional flow capacity in a new relief interceptor. Capacities in both interceptors
will match Full Build-out'Wastewatlerflolw.
• I
Option 3 (Combination Options 1 & 2): Replace portions of Sycamore Creek
Interceptor for Full Build-Out Capacity and rehabilitate portions, of existing
interceptor to increase design life while providing additional flow capacity in a
new relief interceptor. Capacities in both interceptors will match Full Build-Ou,t
Wastewater flow.
• ENGIIN1,EER will obtain, review, and confirm Wth the CITY's existing & future!
wastewater model, reviewing existing and future model data and confirming build
out capacity of the future Sycamore Creek interceptor.
• Determine interceptor size for relief interceptor while utilizing existing interceptor
rehabilitated size for full build-out PWWF wastewater flows.
Evaluate extents of option 3
0 Determine logical segments of the existing line to upgrade for full build-out
capacity and segments for rehabilitation only.
0 Create map of upgraded existing segment versus rehabilitated segments.
