It is proposed that the City Council approve a waiver of the festival equipment rental fees for the Tan�ant County Black
Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc. for their 12`h annual Tarrant County Harambee Festival on Friday, October 1 and
Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the William McDonald I'MCA located at 2701 Moresby Street in the Renaissance Heights
Community. The theme this year is Unity in the Community. As a fundraiser the Festival is a highly anticipated event for
the Lenora Rolla Heritage Museum which is facilitated by the non-proiit Tarrant County Black Historical & Genealogical
Society celebrating culture and diversity across Tarrant County.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council adopted a strategic master plan to with in the Comprehensive Plan to celebrate the African American
Heritage of Near Southeast Fort Worth.
The City of Fort Worth's Festival Equipment Rental Policy establishes fees for rental of various pieces of festival equipment
under M&C's G-12180 on Apri17, 1998 and G-15581 on September 25, 2007. The Society has requested the use of an
aluminum stage measuring 24' x 30' with fees waived. This waiver includes only the equipment rental fee. The Society is
aware of and has no objections to paying labor costs that the City will incur in delivering, setting up, tearing Down, and
removing equipment.
LEGALITY:
The Department of Law finds that this proposal is legal and within the authority of the City Council.
FISCAL NOTE:
Upon City Council approval, the $500 equipment rental fee will be waived for the 12'h annual Tai-�•ant County
Harambee Festival.
CITY MANAGER'S COMMENT:
The City Manager has no objections to the proposed waiver of the equipment rental fee for the event on
October 1 and 2, 2021.
