DISCUSSION: The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to authorize execution of a purchase agreement with Life -Assist, Inc., for medical supplies to support Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the amount up to $500,000.00 for the Fire Department. COOPERATIVE PURCHASE: State law provides that a local government purchasing an item under a cooperative purchasing agreement satisfies State laws requiring that the local government seek competitive bids for the purchase of items. National Purchasing Partners, LLC contracts have been competitively bid to increase and simplify the purchasing power of local government entities. FUNDING: Upon adoption of the Fiscal Year 2025 operating budget for Emergency Medical Services, funding will be available in the Emergency Medical Services Fund for the Fire Department. ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGE ORDERS - An administrative change order or increase may be made by the City Manager up to the amount allowed by relevant law and the Fort Worth City Code and does not require specific City Council approval. TERM: The initial term of the agreement will begin upon execution and end on May 29, 2026 with no options to renew. BUSINESS EQUITY: A Business Equity goal is not assigned when purchasing from an approved purchasing cooperative or public entity. This agreement will serve ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS.
