(With M&C) COUNTY OF TARRANT § WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (City) and Transystems Corporation (Engineer) made and entered into City Secretary Contract No. 24820 (the Contract) which was authorized by the City Council by M&C C-17327 on the 25th day of May, 1999; and WHEREAS, the Contract involves engineering services for the following project: Engineering Contract for Construction Management and Inspection Services for Sanitary Sewer Main 253A Rehabilitation Near the Village Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. WHEREAS, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 1 to said Contract to include an increased scope of work and revised maximum fee; NOW THEREFORE, City and Engineer, acting herein by and through their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following agreement which amends the Contract: 1. Article I of the Contract is amended to include the additional engineering services specified in a proposal letter dated May 12, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein. The cost to City for the additional services to be performed by Engineer total $59,595.00. ►'1 Articleof the Contract is amended to provide for an increase in the maximum fee to be paid to Engineer for all work and services performed under the Contract, as amended, so that the total fee paid by the City for all work and services shall not exceed the sum of $234,225.00. 3. All other provisions of the contract, which are not expressly amended herein, shall remain in full force and effect. DISCUSSION: On March 16, 1999 (M&C C-17327), the City Council authorized the execution of an engineering agreement with TranSystems Corporation for the design of the rehabilitation of sanitary sewer Main 253A near the VCWWTP. On May 18, 1999 (M&C C-1 7429), the City Council awarded an contract to S.J. Lewis Construction, Inc. for sanitary sewer Main 253A near the Village Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. This project has an aggressive schedule to allow the sewer work to be completed prior to the development of a new golf course on the City's east side. Due to heavy construction activity in the City and the limited availability of City inspectors who could respond at this time, the City requested that TranSystems Corporation prepare a proposal to provide construction management services for the project. TranSystems Corporation proposes to provide construction inspection and management services for a fee not to exceed $59,595.00. Staff considers this fee to be fair and reasonable for the work involved. The construction management services will include inspection and construction survey of approximately 1,664 linear feet of 54 -inch sewer; 983 linear feet of 42 -inch sewer; 1,330 linear feet of 30 -inch sewer; 255 linear feet of 24 -inch sewer; three manholes and four junction boxes. The Department of Engineering will require an additional $3,000.00 for the coordination of this project. TranSystems Corporation is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to an additional 13% M/WBE participation on this amendment. The City's goal on this amendment is 10%.
