HomeMy WebLinkAbout025060 - Construction-Related - Contract - Turner Collie & Braden, Inc.AMENDMENT NO. 3 STATE OF TEXAS 8 CITY SECRETARY CONTRACT NO. bO(p O (No M&C Needed) COUNTY OF TARRANT 8 WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth (City) and Turner Collie & Braden, Inc., (Engineer) made and entered into City Secretary Contract No. 23127, (the Contract) which was authorized by the City Council by M&C C-23127 on the 8th day of August 1997; and subsequently revised by two previous amendments; and WHEREAS, the Contract involves engineering services for the following project: Engineering contract for the design of Mains BR and 279 Drainage Area Sanitary Sewer System Evaluation Study and Improvements (Group 7, Contract 1). WHEREAS, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 3 to said Contract to include an increased scope of work and revised maximum fee; NOW THEREFORE, City and Engineer, acting herein by and through their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following agreement which amends the Contract: 1. Article I of the Contract is amended to include the additional engineering services specified in a proposal letter dated June 28, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein. The cost to City for the additional services to be performed by Engineer total $7,400.00. 2. Article II of the Contract is amended to provide for an increase in the maximum fee to be paid to Engineer for all work and services performed under the Contract, as amended, so that the total fee paid by the City for all work and services shall not exceed the sum of $1,241,021.00. On 4/30/99, Peter Fu asked us to investigate extending lateral L-1650 approximately 250 feet east to re-route service for a house that has had some recent back-ups. The rehabilitation of L- 1650 is part of MBR/279, Part 3, Unit 3. The additional survey, easement preparation and design work can be done quickly, but acquisition of easements would probably delay the advertisement date. Therefore, in accordance with the direction you gave me in our telephone conversation last week, we have prepared a fee estimate to remove Unit 3 from the Part 3 plans and prepare contract documents to bid Unit 3 separately. PS46-070460410290, DOE NO. 1717 The proposed amendment will pay Turner Collie & Braden, Inc., for the additional sur- vey and design services to be provided on the project as requested by the City. Part 3 of this project was scheduled to be advertised in three units. However, in order to allow for the design of an additional 250 linear feet without overly disrupting the project schedule, it is necessary to remove Unit 3 from the project and readvertise it for bid at a later date. The poor condition of the identified sewer line was unknown prior to award of the original contract. Turner Collie & Braden, Inc., has submitted a proposal in the amount of $7,400.00 for the additional survey design and printing services thereby increasing the contract fee from $1,233,621.00 to $1,241,021.00. I believe this fee is fair and reasonable for the additional services to be provided. Please authorize this additional design fee by your signatures on the attached contract amendment form.
