CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 2, 2026, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS OF THE 'CITY OF
FORT WORTH, FOR ADOPTION OR REJECTION, PROPOSED
AMENDMENTS TO THE EXISTING CHARTER OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH
WHEREAS, on February 10, 2026, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 28314-02-2026,
calling for and ordering a special election to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for the adoption or rejection
of proposed amendments to the existing charter of the City of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, on May 2, 2026, a special election was held at which the qualified voters of
the City had the opportunity to vote for the adoption or rejection of proposed amendments to the
existing charter of the City of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, all circumstances surrounding the calling of election, giving of notice, holding of election,
and return of ballots have been legally had and done; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Texas Election Code, the City Council of the City of
Fort Worth is required to canvass the returns and declare the results of the election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH THAT:
SECTION 1. The declarations and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
hereby found to be true and correct and shall be made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds and declares that a special election regarding the
adoption or rejection of proposed amendments to the existing charter of the City of Fort Worth was held
on May 2, 2026, at which election qualified voters were given the opportunity to vote for adoption or
rejection of proposed amendments to the existing charter of the City of Fort Worth.
SECTION 3. The City Council further finds and declares that the returns for such election are as
follows:

SHALL SECTION 3 OF CHAPTER III OF THE FORT WORTH CITY
CHARTER BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE THAT, EFFECTIVE
OCTOBER 1, 2026, THE MAYOR'S ANNUAL PAY SHALL BE SIXTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($60,000) AND THAT THE OTHER CITY

COUNCIL MEMBERS' ANNUAL PAY SHALL BE FIFTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000)?

SECTION 4. The City Council further finds and declares that such returns are correct and adopts
them as the returns of the election held on May 2, 2026, together with the tabulation of the total number
of votes received in each precinct.
SECTION 5. The City Council finds that Propositions G, I, J, N, and O be declared adopted by
the City Fort Worth and the Fort Worth City Charter shall be amended to reflect the above adopted
Propositions. Since Propositions H, K, L and M failed, those changes will not be implemented.
SECTION 6. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting of the Fort Worth City
Council at which this Resolution was adopted was open to the public, and that public notice of the time,
place, and purpose of said meeting was given, as required by Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption on this 12th day of May, 2026.
