RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 with Vaughn Architects Plus to design repairs and replacements for roof systems damaged during the May 5, 1995, hailstorm for a fee not to exceed $46,200. DISCUSSION: On August 20, 1996 (M&C C-15615), the City Council- authorized the execution of an architectural design agreement with Vaughn Architects Plus for time and material costs not to exceed $95,283, based on 7% of the estimated repairs to be contracted using the design prepared by the architect. At that time, it was estimated that the total value of the repairs to be designed by the architect would be $1,360,000. To date, contract designs have been prepared for $1,330,000 in contracts, both those which have been carried out and those which were bid, but put on hold pending additional funding from the insurance company. It is estimated that an additional $660,000 in roof repairs remain to complete the recovery due to outsourcing of more design efforts than was originally planned, and higher than expected costs of the projects. The additional $46,200 in allowable architectural fees will allow the Transportation and Public Works Department to evaluate the remaining roofs and prepare the designs for repairs to return roof systems on the facilities to full integrity. Vaughn Architects Plus is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to and additional 5°7o M/WBE participation on this amendment. iSCA INFRMATION/CERTlFICXTION: The Finance Director certifies that funds are available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of the Insurance Fund. MG:k Submitted for City Manager's Office by: Mike Groomer Origivating Department Head: Hugo Malanga ' , Additional Information Contact: Hugo Malanga I FUND I ACCOUNT CENTER (t0) 6140 I 7801 (from) FE71 539120 0157150 7801 AMOUNT $46,200.00 CITY SECRETARY APPROVED 6/15/99 City of Fort Worth, Texas II . . . 1►Ayar And C.aucl CammuncAtan DATE ' REFERENCE NUMBER LO NAME PAGE 6/15/99 **C-17464 I 20HAIL I 1 of 1 SUBJECT AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO ARCHITECTURAL AGREEMENT WITH VAUGHN ARCHITECTS PLUS FOR PREP,ARATION OF DESIGNS FOR REPLACEMENT OF ROOFS DAMAGED IN MAY 5, 19a5 HAILSTORM RECOMMENDATION: I a Il It is recommended that the City Council authori'e the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 with Vaughn Architects Plus to design repairs and relacements for roof systems damaged dtaring the May 5, 1995, hailstorm for a fee not to exceed $46,20Q.
