WSEREAB, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 5 to said Contract to include an increased scope of v�ork and revised maximum fee; NOW TBEREFORE, City and Engineer, �cting herein by and through their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following aqreement which amends the Contract: 1. Article I of the Contract is amended to include the additional engineering services �pecified in a proposal letter da.ted January 6, 2000, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated h�rein. Note, the altemative bid was incorporated in the bid documents at the request of the City to ensure the project could be implemented with or without the Tarantula RR permit. • Eliminate L-5474 from the bid documents. Note, this was incorporated in to the project at the request of the City. � Update specifications for pipe enlargement designating HDPE pipe DR-21 and reference all HDPE pipe sizes in accordance with the standardized DIP sizes. Douglas Rademaker, Director DOE and Mike Groomer, Assistant City Manager Mike Domenech, P.E. �� January 25, 2000 RE: DESIGN FEE AMENDMENT NO. 5 TO MAIN C1C4B DRAINAGE AREA SANITARY SEWER REHABILITATION AND IMPROVE- MENTS (GROUP 6, CONTRACT 2), PART 4, DOE NO. 1829 The proposed amendment will reimburse Halff Associates, Inc., for the additional engi- neering services that will be provided on the project as requested by the City. In order to expedite construction, of the project, City staff directed Halff to implement various modifications to the existing design. These modifications include the removal of alternates to Tarantula RR crossings and the elimination of L-5474. Updates to both the plans and specifications were also incorporated at the behest of City staff which required additional effort on the part of the consultant in order to comply. Halff Associates, Inc., has requested a fee of $2,300.00 for the additional services to be provided thereby increasing the contract fee from $346,965.00 to $349,265.00. I believe this fee is fair and reasonable for the additional services that were provided.
