SUBJECT
(ALL) Adopt Appropriation Ordinance increasing appropriations in the Risk Financing Fund in
the Amount of $2,200,000.00 from Available Net Position for Repairs to Multiple City Facilities
Damaged During the April 2026 Hailstorm
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached appropriation ordinance
increasing appropriations in the Risk Financing Fund in the amount of $2,200,000.00, from
available net position, for the purpose of repairing multiple City -owned facilities that
sustained damage during the April 2026 hailstorm.
DISCUSSION
In April 2026, Fort Worth experienced a severe hailstorm that caused widespread damage to
numerous City -owned facilities. The storm resulted in significant damage to roofing systems,
building exteriors, windows, and other property components requiring repair to protect City
assets and maintain continuity of operations.
The estimated cost to repair the damaged facilities exceeds the amount currently
appropriated in the Risk Financing Fund for self-insurance loss claims. To ensure repairs can
proceed without delay and to prevent further deterioration of City assets, additional funding
is necessary.
The Risk Financing Fund is a self-insurance fund established to finance covered losses to City
property and other insured risks. The Fund maintains available net position to address
significant and unforeseen loss events. The requested appropriation of $2,200,000.00 from
the Fund's available net position will provide sufficient budget authority to complete repairs
to City facilities.
This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
