This initiative, requested by the Development Advisory Committee (DAC), is 3 of 4 FORT WORTH.; focused on identifying and implementing improvements to better support development activity and enhance customer experience. • The Fort Worth City Council designated one of the City's oldest power plants as a historically endangered structure. For more than 40 years, this power plant supplied the majority of electricity that fueled the City's growth, industry, and modern infrastructure. Under the newly approved designation, the property now qualifies for a 15 -year site tax exemption - an incentive that exceeds the standard 10 -year exemption typically offered for historic sites. This extended benefit is intended to encourage preservation and stimulate interest among potential developers or owners thus opening the door to unique redevelopment opportunity. • The IPRC Process Improvement Project began in June and is expected to take 12 to 18 months to complete. This is a collaborative effort with several teams. • The City hosted an Open House on the proposed data center development regulations on June 30, 2026. The Zoning Commission recommended denial of amendments to the Zoning Ordinance for data centers on July 8, 2026, requesting more details and more time to review the ordinance. On August 11, the City Council adopted 1) a resolution to initiate the process to adopt a 90 day moratorium on data center developments, 2) a resolution to establish the Fort Worth Data Center and Infrastructure Commission, and 3) an ordinance establishing a new permit application requirement for all new data center projects received after the adoption of the ordinance.
