RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:

DISCUSSION
The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to authorize the execution of
a construction contract with C. Green Scaping, LP, in the amount of $556,024.50 for the
construction of dam repairs at Barksdale Park. The remaining project budget will be used to
cover soft costs, including project administration, construction inspection, and materials
testing (laboratory) services. In addition, this M&C authorizes a supplemental appropriation
ordinance from available Park Dedication Fees interest earnings necessary to fully fund the
Barksdale Dam project.
The Park and Recreation Department (PARD) staff and community members had noticed
seepage from the Barksdale Dam. The seepage has created a saturated area around the
existing shelter and playground at the park. To address this issue, PARD selected Westwood
Professional Services, Inc. to provide engineering services for the dam repairs at Barksdale
Park (City Secretary Contract No. 64119).
