The intersection improvements at the Farm to Market Road (FM) 156 and Chaplin Drive project will improve the efficiency of the traffic flow while increasing the visibility and safety. The scope of work for the project consists of installing a traffic signal and pedestrian signals, installing pedestrian crosswalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations, providing safety lighting at the intersection, and refreshing pavement markings. This project is expected to be let by TxDOT in August 2027. TxDOT is responsible for all construction activities within the scope of this project. Further, TxDOT is responsible for securing the Federal and State share of the funding required for the development and construction of the project along with any cost overruns for construction. City funds appropriated for this project include professional engineering services and local participation. No advance payment to TxDOT is required for this project. The final payment to TxDOT for local participation will be based on actual costs. At the end of the project, the asset will remain with the City of Fort Worth.
