RENAMING THE SOUTHSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER AS THE SOUTHSIDE
COMMUNITY CENTER AT HAZEL HARVEY PEACE CENTER FOR
NEIGHBORHOODS, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth has historically operated the Southside Community Center
located at 959 E. Rosedale Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76104 to provide recreation, enrichment, social
service access, and community programming for residents of the Historic Southside and surrounding
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the City has transferred the programs, services, and community center operations
formerly provided at the Southside Community Center to the Hazel Harvey Peace Center for
Neighborhoods, located at 818 Missouri Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76104; and
WHEREAS, the transfer allows the City to continue serving Southside residents from the Hazel
Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods location while preserving the Southside Community Center
identity and its longstanding connection to the community; and
WHEREAS, Hazel Harvey Peace was a distinguished Fort Worth educator, humanitarian, and
community advocate whose service made a lasting contribution to the City and its neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to recognize the transfer of Southside Community Center
services and formalize the name under which those services will be provided at the Hazel Harvey Peace
Center for Neighborhoods.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council acknowledges that the programs, services, and community center
operations formerly provided at the Southside Community Center have been transferred to the Hazel
Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods at 818 Missouri Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76104.
SECTION 2. That the City Council hereby renames the Southside Community Center as the "Southside
Community Center at Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods," effective October 1, 2026.
SECTION 3. That City departments are authorized and directed to update signs, directories, websites,
program materials, records, and other public -facing references to reflect the name established by this
Resolution, as practicable.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect on October 1, 2026.
