BID ADVERTISEMENT - This bid was advertised in the Commercial Recorder on December 8 and 15, 1998. Fifteen contractors submitted bids. BID TABULATION - See attached bid tabulation. BID DISCUSSION - The invitation to bid consisted of detailed specifications describing the location and the work to be performed. These bids were evaluated and awarded on a line-item basis. The City Services Department certifies that the responsive low bidder is being recommended. The apparent low bidder on the Handley site withdrew its bid due to a misunderstanding of the specifications. The second apparent low bidder on the Handley site was unable to secure the required insurance necessary for the work. The apparent low bidder on Greenlee Street withdrew its bid as it was based on demolition of only one building. There are three buildings at that site. M/WBE - A-1 Demolition is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by submission of the prime contractor waiver form. The City's goal on this project is 10%. The Greenlee Street, East Tucker Street, and Panola Street addresses will be funded by the Crime Control and Prevention District Fund. Fire Station No. 24, which is located at 3104 Handley Drive, will be funded by the General Fund.
