Amendment No.1
Mr. Pandey:
At our July 13, 2011 meeting at the project site, Dunaway was asked to evaluate the
option of installing a new parallel storm drain pipe on the west side of the existing
structure at 2909 Mitchell Boulevard (Exhibit A). This letter constitutes our request for
supplemental authorization for tasks outside the scope of services of our current
contract.
The following describes the anticipated tasks and our assumptions to provide these
additional analyses.
TASK 1 —PROJECT MANAGEMENT
1. Attend a site visit to determine additional alignment and constructability options with
the CITY.
2. Attend additional design review meeting with the CITY at the end of conceptual
analysis for alternate alignment.
TASK 2—CONCEPTUAL DESIGN 130 PERCENT)
ENGINEER will modify the storm drain hydraulic model to include a new storm drain
pipe to provide added capacity from the sump at the intersection of Wesleyan Drive and
Strong Avenue to the existing 8'x5' box crossing Mitchell Boulevard. The intent of
additional storm drain evaluation is to provide a new storm drain pipe parallel to the
existing 60-inch storm drain behind (east of) the existing structure at 2909 Mitchell
Boulevard. The new parallel pipe would be located in the access road and parking lot on
the west side of the structure at 2909 Mitchell Boulevard and would have capacity
approximately equal to the difference in capacities of the existing 8'x5' box and the
existing 60-inch pipe.
Amendment No. 1
August 24, 2011
Page 2
3. Determine the initial size of new storm drain as the difference in capacities of the
existing storm drain pipe/box at each end of the proposed new pipe.
4. Add the new parallel storm drain pipe to the hydraulic model of the existing storm
drain pipe network and verify that the initial size provides adequate capacity to
convey the 100-year peak discharge from the sump at Wesleyan Drive and Strong
Avenue.
5. Prepare a letter report summarizing the analysis of the parallel storm drain pipe. The
letter report will include a summary of the assumptions made, modeling approach,
and the conclusions reached regarding the parallel storm drain pipe. In addition, the
letter report will include an opinion of probable construction cost for the parallel storm
drain pipe and a comparison to the opinion of probable construction costs for the two
options developed per the original AGREEMENT.
6. Conduct one (1) project status meeting with CITY upon completion of the analysis of
the parallel storm drain pipe to review the findings of the analysis and discuss the
storm drain improvement option to pursue in subsequent phases of the Project.
7. Conduct one (1) field meeting with CITY to come up with possible alignment
alternatives after original conceptual plan submittal.
TASK 3—PRELIMINARY DESIGN
8. Structural design of up to two(2)storm drain junction structures.
TASK 7— ROW/EASEMENT SERVICES
In addition to the right-of-way and easement documents described for Task 7 of
Attachment A of the original AGREEMENT, ENGINEER shall prepare of one (1)
drainage easement for the property located at 2909 Mitchell Boulevard. The purpose of
this easement will be to abandon the existing easement and prepare a more accurate
easement on the existing storm drain line based on the latest survey and SUE findings.
The easement will be prepared in accordance with the procedures outlined in
Attachment A of the original AGREEMENT.
TASK 8 —SURVEY
ENGINEER will perform an additional field survey to collect horizontal locations and
vertical elevations and other information needed by ENGINEER in the design and
preparation of construction drawings for a parallel storm drain line on the west side of
the existing structure at 2909 Mitchell Boulevard. The limits of the additional field survey
generally include the properties at 2909 Mitchell Boulevard and 2604 Strong Avenue and
are identified in Exhibit A.
This scope of services does not include the following services:
1) Additional subsurface utility investigation
