P13-1102E Dear Mr. Clements, The errant site conditions r wet and soft. The rough terrain and Bret condition is not practical for the use of a conventional truck rig, Therefore, an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) r rillir Rig mill be required at this site to perform the drilling. The additional costs associated with using an ATV drilling rig in lieu of a truck mounted drilling rig for this project is $1,0100. It this proposal meets with your approval, please sign below to, authorize Mas-Tek Engineering to perform the work utilizing an ATV' Buggy drilling rig. e look forward to working with you on this project. This proposal includes a description of the project scope of w rk, and fee, m ro E I T The project consists of the proposed riew North Service Center in Fort Wov rth re,xas at the northwest intersection of Shire Meado w Drive and bill hire give. Mas-Tek previously performed a geotec.hnical investigation T E Project No. E13-1013 dated January 1 201 for this proposed project. We understarrc:., that additional information is required the design team for the proposed retaining wall and swap building to be located west of the proposed gate house. We understand that the proposed retaining walls will he approximately 6 feet However, only shalAow borings were drilled in the proximity of tl°gees structures during the original ge tech is 4 investigation. Additional deeper borings, are recommended t be drilled in order to provide the design information the design team is requesting. 0 ti 0 SCOPE The geotechnical investigation performed for the referenced project will consist of field and laboratory investigations, engineering analysis, grid a report prepared by a Registers Professional Engineer. r x 4 r I 4 a 5132 Sharp Street Dallas,Texras 75247 972 709-7384 a b x 41N Supplemental Investigation Proposed North Service Center n tInc. MTE Proposal P14-0203E February 5, 20114 Page 2 FIELD INVESTIGATION The field investigation will consist of drilling two (2) test borings (Borings, B-25 & B-26 t the location of the proposed retaining wells and swap building, The borings will be advanced unillil 10 feet of unweathered rock is penetrated. Unweathered rock is anticipated to be encountered at a depth of 15 feet below existing, g,radie, therefore borings, B-25 & B-26 are anticipated to be terminated at 25 feet. Note If Unweathered rock is encountered at average depths of greater than 15 feet, additional drilling footage will be required in order to achieve the required penetrations into unweathered rock. Subsurface soil samples will be secured with thin walled tube and/or split spoon samples depending, on soil type and consistency. Rock encountered in the borings will be evaluated using the Texas Department of Transportation Penetrometer (TxDOT Cone), All samples will be properly logged, packaged, sealed, and pilaced in a core box for transportation to the laboratory. Mas-Tel Engineering assumes that the client has the right-cf-entry to the property and that the boring locations will be accessible to our convention all truck mounted drilling eqUipment during normal working hours. Should unusual soil conditions be encountered, we will call you with a recommendation and cost estimate to explore these unUSUal conditions. Mas-Tek Engineering will contact Dlit Tess and the City of Fort Worth Water Utilities to have them locate underground utilities. However, M-'J-E is not responsible for damage to Underground Utilities that are not identified prior to drill, ing. Laborator lnves, tgatjqn Laboratory tests will be conducted to classify the soil and to evaluate the volume change potential and strength of the soil and rock present at the site. Soil classification tests will consist of Atterberg limits (plasticity index), moisture content, and, dry unit weight. The volume change potential of the soils will be evaluated by swell tests. The strength of the soil will" be estirfl, ated using hand penetrometer strength testing and unconfi ned compressive strength tests. a. j Results of field and laboratory work will be presented in an engineering report. The report MI include our recornmendations to guide design and construction of the foundations and will include the following- 1. Plan of borings, ring logs, water level' observationsl and laboratory test results. 2. Straight shaft pier recommendations for the proposed swap building. 3. Straight shaft pier recommendations for the Proposed retaining walls,. Supplemental Investigation MAS-TEx Engineering Proposed North Service Center &Associates,,Inc. Fort Worth, Texas MTE Proposal P14-0203E February 5, 20,114 Page 3 4. Comments on the presence and effect of expansive soils on slab-on-grade construction will be provided. Alternative methods of reducing any anticipated shrink/swell movements associated with expansive clays, will be included for slab-on-grade construction. 5. L-Pile soil parameters will be provided for the piers to support the retaining walls. We understand that the Structural Engineer will perform the L-Pile analyses based upon, the L- Pile soil parameters provided, by Mess-Tel . Note,: Global slope stability analyses for the proposed short retaining walls have not been included within this proposal.. GE,OTECHNIICAL FEES Based on the proposed scope of wolrk, we will provide the geotechnical investigation for a lump sum fee of $5,0001.00, If unweathered rock is enCOUntered at average depths of greater than, 15 feet, additional, drilling footage will be required, in order to achieve the required penetrations, into unweathered rock. Additional fees willi apply for additional drilling footage at $25.00 per foot, TERMS AND CONDITIONS If this proposal meets with your approval, please s-Ign, below to authorize Mas-Tek Engineering to perform the work. We look forward to working with you on this project. Please contact us after reviewing our proposal if you have any questions, Sincerely, MSS-TEK ENGINEERING Q.— Mark J. Farrow, P.E.
