HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014/03/25-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION MARCH 25, 2014 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Price adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth, City Council at 10:31 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre- Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Betsy Price Mayor Pro tem W.B. Kayser, City Secretary Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, Assistant City Manager Charles Daniels, Assistant City Manager Gerald Pruitt, Deputy City Attorney Peter Vaky, Deputy City Attorney Chris Mosley, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Melinda Ramos, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Dana Burghdoff, Deputy Director Planning Randle Harwood, Planning and Development Director Tyler Wallach, Assistant City Attorney Maleshia Farmer, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Denis McElroy, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Jeff Halstead, Police Chief Daniel Garcia, Assistant Chief Laetitia Brown, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Michelle K-retz, Assistant City Attorney Shannon Elder, Code Compliance Liz Casso, Planning and Development Harvey Frye, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Carol McFatridge Sr. Assistant City Attorney CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 25, 201.4 PAGE 2 of 2 With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 10:37 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: a. Legal issues concerning appeals from boards and commissions to the Appeals Board; b. Legal issues concerning the demolition of a house at 804 West Morphy; c. Legal issues concerning public safety communications; d. In re.- Municipal Derivatives Antritrust Litigation, Cause No. MDL No. 1950, Master Docket No. 08-02516; U.S. District Court, Southern District, New York; e. Legal issues concerning the application of the City's Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity Policy; and f. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas; 2. Deliberate the purchase, sale, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate concerning economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code; and 5. Deliberate issues concerning the appointment of a City Manager in accordance with Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code. There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Price adjourned the meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
