RE: Contract Amendment No. 6
Clear Fork Drainage Basin—M-210 Sanitary Sewer Relocation
City Prof ect No. 010222, City Secretary No., 40121
RJN Group File No. 18242500
ATT. Mr. Sauceda:
Please find attached the Contract Amendment No. 6 request to the M-210: Sanitary Sewer
Relocation Project. This amendment request is seeking to recover labor and expenses associated
with the significant amount of additional design services on Part 3 and services during
construction (SDC) performed on Parts 2 and 3 from August through December 2013. Each of
these amendment cost centers will be discussed in greater detail in the amendment summaries
shown below.
M-210 PART 3—D :SIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES—EXTRA WORK
During the reporting periods noted above, RJN produced and issued new design drawings
associated with the construction of a realigned M-21 0 and Country Club service line to
accommodate the new Tennis Center. This also included the need to redesign the plans to
account for completely trenchless construction using tunneling and DD due to site
inaccessibility for traditional construction equipment. RJN was also asked by the City to design
the realignment of the 8-inch waterline in Country Club Circle (approximately 1,80O LF) to the
western side of the street and across the southern Colonial Parkway intersection. The production
of these new designs required extensive site and technical coordination during the design and
during the construction of these improvements.,
More specifically, these amendment item efforts included:
L M- 10 and Colonial Clubhouse Service Re-route Preliminary Designs to
accommodate the new Tennis Center Building Improvements (Task 3.1F). RJN
closely coordinated with the Colonial staff on moving the existing public and private
sewer systems,to accommodate theffi new facilities while conforming to future system
improvement plans for the overall private system improvements plan for the Colonial
Country Club (CCC). Preliminary design plans were produced for these
improvements. RJN's staff hours, labor and expense costs incurred to perform this
item are shown in the summary cost table below.

2. M-210 and Colonial Clubhouse Service Re-route Final Designs, to accommodate
the new Tennis Center Building Improvements (Task 4.2G)# RJN closely
coordinated with the Colonial staff on final adjustments to the design plans that
moved the existing public and private sewer systems. Final design plans and a cost
estimate produced for these improvements. RJN also reviewed the Contractor's
submitted change order to Part 3 for, performing this additional work. RJN's staff
hours, labor and expense costs incurred to perform this item are shown in the
summary cost table below.
3. Redesign of the M-210 and Colonial Clubhouse Service Re-route Final Design
Plans to accommodate construction of the new Tennis Center Building
Improvements by trenchless means using tunneling and D. (Task 4.2H). Due
to construction equipment'inaccessibility to the site (none of their bridges could hold
the equipment's weight), the City directed RJN revised the design plans to be
constructed completely by trenchless means. RJN again closely coordinated with the
Colonial staff on the design plans and construction access. Final REVISED design
plans another cost estimate were produced for these improvements. RJN again
reviewed the Contractor's revised change order to Part 3 f or performing this
additional work. RJN's staff hours, labor and expense costs, incurred to perform this
item are shown in the summary cost table below.
4. City Staff requested redesign of the M-210 Part 3, Country Club Circle 8-inch
water line. (Task 4.21). Due local resident's concerns, City staff directed RJN to
realign the proposed water line by moving it to the western side of the street and
extending it beyond the Colonial Parkway intersection. RJN closely coordinated
with the Colonial staff on these revised design plans and its constructability with
limited adverse impacts to the neighborhood and country club activities. Final
REVISED design plans another;cost estimate were produced for these improvements.
RJN's staff hours, labor and expense costs incurred to perform this item are shown in
the summary cost table below.
5. M-210 Part 3 - Supplemental Site Visits, Technical Assistance and Additional
Record Drawings
gs Production for the new M-210,Re-route design on the Colonial
Country Club Property (Task 6-1G). Due to the M-210 and service re-route
design being added to the scope of work; the re-design to change to tunneling
construction on site; the realignment of the proposed 8-inch water line in Country
Club Circle; and traffic control&public event coordination activities along the Part 3
project area, a large number of unbludgeted site visits and coordination time was
required to be made. RJN"s staff hours, labor and expense costs incurred to perform
this item are shown in the summary cost table below.
