CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 10, 2014, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
FOR CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 9 TO SERVE THE REMAINDER
OF AN UNEXPIRED TERM
WHEREAS, on February 18, 2014, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth adopted
Ordinance No. 21129-02-2014, calling for and ordering a special election to be held on Saturday, May
10, 2014, at which election all qualified voters of the City of Fort Worth would have the opportunity to
vote for the purpose of electing a Council Member for City Council District 9 to serve the remainder of
an unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, on May 10, 2014, a special election was held at which the qualified voters of City
Council District 9 had the opportunity to vote for the purpose of electing a City Council Member for
City Council District 9 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 67, of the Texas Election Code, the City Council of the City of
Fort Worth is required to canvass the returns and declare the results of the election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH THAT:
SECTION 1. The declarations and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
hereby found to be true and correct and shall be made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds and declares that the said City Council election for
District 9 was held on May 10, 2014, at which election qualified voters were given the opportunity to
vote for the purpose of electing a City Council Member for City Council District 9 to serve the
remainder of an unexpired term.
SECTION 3. The City Council further finds and declares that the returns for such election are
as follows:

SECTION 4. The City Council further finds and declares that such returns are correct, and
adopts them as the returns of the election held on May 10, 2014, together with the tabulation of the total
number of votes received in each precinct.
SECTION 5. The City Council further finds no candidate received a majority of the total
number of votes received by all candidates for the office of City Council District 9 and that no candidate
be declared elected to City Council District 9. Therefore, in accordance with Chapter IV, Section 2, of
the City of Fort Worth Home Rule Charter, a run-off election is hereby declared necessary to fill this
place on the City Council and a run-off election will be ordered by separate action of the City Council.
SECTION 6. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting of the Fort Worth
City Council at which this Resolution was adopted was open to the public, and that public notice of the
time, place and purpose of said meeting was given, as required by Chapter 551 of the Texas Government
Code.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take effec�upon adop -n this 2 ` day o ay, 2014.
