ORDINANCE NO, ,
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN EMERGENCY AMBER SIGNAL LIGHT
FOR THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC ON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH; PROVIDING THAT VEHICLES FACING SUCH
SIGNAL SHALL IMMEDIATELY STOP; PROHIBITING ENTRY INTO AN
INTERSECTION WHERE SUCH SIGNAL IS DISPLAYED; PROVIDING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF OTHER
ORDINANCES REGULATING TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY
FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
A steady amber traffic control light of a duration in excess of five
(5) seconds shall constitute an emergency signal. All drivers of motor
vehicles approaching an intersection where an emergency signal is being
displayed shall immediately drive such vehicles to a position as near as
possible and parallel to the right-hand edge or curb of the street before
entering the intersection, and shall remain in such position until a
green or "Go" signal light is shown.
SECTION 2.
Should any section, clause or provision of this ordinance be declared
by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the same shall not
affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole or any part thereof other
than the part so declared to be invalid.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall repeal every prior ordinance in conflict herewith,
but only insofar as the portion of such prior ordinance shall be in conflict,
and as to all other sections of ordinances not in direct conflict herewith,
this ordinance shall be and is hereby made cumulative except as to such
ordinances or portions thereof as are expressly repealed hereby.
SECTION 4.
Any person w1ho violates, disobeys, omits, neglects or refuses to
comply with any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred
Dollars ($200.00).
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
