AIN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$4,445.00, SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF MONETARY DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS
CONTRIBUTORS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING SMOKE DETECTORS
AND FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION MATERI.ALS FOR THE FIRE SAFETY
EDUCATION SECTION OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR A
SEVERABILFFY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR
ORDINANCES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
'TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 in the
Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Special Trust Fund in the amount of $4,445.00, subject to receipt of monetary donations from various
contributors, for the purpose Of purpose Of purchasing smoke detectors and fire safety education materials
for the Fire Safety Education Section of the Fire Department.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section Of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or
void for any reason by a court of corripetent.jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or.judgment shall in no way
impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining
provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3.
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of' Ordinance No. 20952-09-2013 and all other ordinances and
appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in
direct conflict with Such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions
of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.

Authorize Acceptance of a Monetary Donation from Various Contributors in the Amount of $4,445.00 for
the Purchase of Smoke Detectors and Fire Safety Education Materials and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance
(ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Authorize the acceptance of a monetary donation in the amount of $4,445.00;
2. Authorize the purchase of smoke detectors and fire safety education materials for the Fire Safety
Education Section of the Fire Department, in accordance with City regulations and state laws; and
3. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Special Trust Fund in the amount of $4,445.00.
DISCUSSION:
The Fire Department's Fire Safety Education Section received generous donations from various
contributors including the University Baptist Church - Children's Choir Ministry, International Association of
Black Professional Fire Fighters - Fort Worth Chapter, Cutting Edge Haunted House, Sears Hometown &
Outlet - National Volunteer Fire Council, XTO Energy and Jeanie L. Boren. The donations are to be used
towards the purchase of smoke detectors and fire safety education materials. The smoke detector
campaign is an effort to reduce fire deaths and injuries by installing smoke detectors and batteries free of
charge to any residence of Fort Worth needing them. The equipment will be purchased in accordance
with City regulations and state and local laws.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations
and adoption of the appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as
appropriated, of the Special Trust Fund. The Fire Department is responsible for the collection and deposit
of funds donated to the City.
